Now available from ITC, two families of manual crimping tools for the popular MC3 and MC4 connectors used in solar (photovoltaic) applications. The professional tool system PEW 12 includes a universal frame, plus various types of die sets and locators.
The universal frame can also be used for crimping also almost every type of connector between 28AWG and 3/0AWG. Specialized dies and locators for the professional installer of solar equipment include models for crimping connectors 14-10 AWG, as well as “multi-function” dies for cutting, stripping and crimping with one single tool. PEW 12 tools, made in Germany, feature parallel jaw operation, maximum leverage effort thanks to their mechanical design, and comfortable two-component handle grips. Other models are designed for crimping different manufacturer’s solar terminals.

The A-2546 series of lightweight crimp tools, also available from stock, offers an economical alternative for the installer of photovoltaic equipment. Each tool (p/n 500.401 and 500.411) crimps one of the 2 styles (MC3 and MC4) of connectors, for wires 14-10AWG.
The model for MC4 connectors is equipped with a positioner to hold the terminals in place while operating the tool.
